The Sixth China Charity Fair Successfully Concluded

On September 22, the Sixth China Charity Fair (hereinafter referred to CCF), which lasted for 3 days, was successfully concluded in Shenzhen. This CCF, centering the theme of “Focus on Targeted Poverty Alleviation and Create a Better Life”, positioned and promoted itself precisely, and has created obvious and unique characteristics and achieved outstanding performance.

According to preliminary statistics, this CCF has attracted 789 organizations from 31 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities, as well as Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, with 876 projects and 312 consumer products for poverty alleviation; 1 international philanthropy submit and 5 themed meetings were held, and over 100 guests at home and abroad have gathered to deeply discuss with topics related to poverty reduction and alleviation; over 60 road shows, salons, press conferences, and experiencing activities were carried out, which attracted almost 170,000 audiences; in addition, many media at municipal, provincial, and national levels and over 100 reporters, including People’s Daily, Xinhua News Agency, and CCTV (China Central Television) attended CCF for reporting, which created a favorable social atmosphere of “Be kind to alleviate poverty and be honorable to assist the poor”.

Four outstanding characteristics were displayed in this CCF, including:

 (I) Focus on the Theme and tell “Chinese Stories” of poverty alleviation well

With the guideline of decision and deployment issued by General Secretary Xi Jinping, Party Central Committee, and the State Council about alleviating poverty within three years, an exhibition area themed as targeted poverty alleviation and special area for consumer products for poverty alleviation were set up to demonstrate and promote innovative and duplicable projects with demonstrating and driving effect, organizations awarded with “China Charity Award” and prizes and honors in targeted poverty alleviation campaign of “10 Thousand Enterprises Help 10 Thousand Villages” and national poverty alleviation program, and consumer products for poverty alleviation with local characteristics, which comprehensively displayed the latest industrial status and accomplishments, recalled the vivid scene that all sectors of society jointly made great efforts on poverty alleviation, told “Chinese stories” about poverty alleviation in the New Era, and highlighted CCF’s effect as a platform for poverty alleviation.

 (II) Gather efforts to alleviate poverty in the New Era

Based on the international leading ideas and modes related to poverty reduction and alleviation, this CCF has deeply discussed on how to build up a working structure with widely participation by many sectors and organic integration of various measures with greater poverty alleviation, made great efforts to build a platform for interaction and communication among the government, the market, and the society, and convened a high-end international themed submit, as well as 5 seminars respectively focusing on various topics such as poverty alleviation by financing, technology, social organizations, and social innovation. Over 100 guests at home and abroad were invited to exchange and share their precise experience about targeted poverty reduction and alleviation. Furthermore, CCF also proposed more charity organizations joining the campaign of targeted poverty alleviation via the International Charity Submit in order to collect more charity resources and social forces to support the campaign of poverty alleviation.

 (III) Make targeted efforts to match up social resources and areas stricken by extreme poverty

This CCF especially made great efforts on precise matching of resources: 1. precise matching of areas; a “Special Area for Promoting Projects from Areas Stricken by Extreme Poverty” was set up to demonstrate and promote 65 projects for alleviating poverty in those areas and introduce more and better social charity resources to the areas stricken by extreme poverty like "Three Regions and Three Prefectures"; 2. precise matching of targets; a Project Promotion Manual was prepared to promote 372 projects and consumer products for poverty alleviation, and this CCF also exerted itself to precisely match up the demand of poverty-stricken areas on poverty alleviation and various social resources by means of project subscription, buy-to-order, responsible consumption; and 3. precise matching of service; besides promoting effective matching of charity funds and poverty alleviation projects, this CCF also promote effective matching of social resources such as technology, equipment, and professional talents and the demands of poverty alleviation, in order to ensure that the charity resources could be utilized properly. As preliminary statistics showed that, there were totally 49 projects that have been matched up with proper resources with over 13 billion yuan during this CCF, among which, Shenzhen Charity Federation and other organizations subscribed over 10 poverty alleviation projects in areas stricken by extreme poverty such as Liangshan and Zhaojue in Sichuan, Zhaotong in Yunnan, Linxia in Gansu, and Suichuan in Jiangxi during this CCF, and some enterprises and organizations also provided assistance and support to poverty-stricken areas by offering information technology service, financial support, and vocational training.

 (IV) Focus on details to improve CCF’s influence and propagation effect

For promotion and propaganda, this CCF centered its theme and settings and further highlighted key points, deeply demonstrated outstanding points, and concentrated on details. It kept promotion online and offline by various means of high-level dialogues, depth interview, reports of models, and micro-film broadcasting, in order to comprehensively demonstrate excellent cases and models of the poverty alleviation campaign in a panorama form, which could also practically advertise CCF more precisely and interesting, and could create a favorable social atmosphere of “Be kind to alleviate poverty and be honorable to assist the poor”.

The Ministry of Civil Affairs made a conclusion speech on behalf of all sponsors. During the press conference for conclusion, projects awarded in China Charity Project Competition 2018 were also announced. 10 projects including “One-Heart Farm—Boosting Village Construction and Alleviate Poverty for the Disabled” were awarded with the Gold Prize; 10 projects including “Poverty Alleviation Project of Han Embroidery named ‘Mama Comes Back Home’” were awarded with the Silver Prize; and 10 projects including “Poverty Alleviation for Leftover Women in Tibetan Areas named ‘One Leave One Flower Amara’” were awarded with the Bronze Prize.

At the Conference, sponsors presented awards to excellent participating organizations, executing organizations, and cooperating organizations and medals to cooperative units, and the Organizing Committee Office of CCF also donated historical materials of the 1st CCF to the Chinese Charity Museum.

After completion of this CCF, the Organizing Committee Office will continue to match up resources with poverty-alleviation projects and offer better service for participating organizations by means of online promotion and offline matching, in order to make CCF become a “Permanent Charity Fair”. In addition, CCF’s theme in the next two years will keep focusing on targeted poverty alleviation and make continuous efforts to achieve the best performance in poverty alleviation.
