The 6th China Charity Fair (hereinafter referred to as CCF) was held at Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center from September 20 to 22, 2012. It kicked off at 8:30 a.m. on September 20 with a wonderful dance and song performance of Yi nationality by the children of Ma Wei Children's Art Troupe from Daliang Mountain, Sichuan Province and a major poverty alleviation project matchmaking session witnessed by the participating leaders.
The 6th CCF is co-organized by the Ministry of Civil Affairs, the State Council Poverty Alleviation Office, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, the Guangdong Provincial Government, the Shenzhen Municipal Government and the China Charity Alliance. As the first charity event held after the 19th Party Congress, this session is under the guidance of Xi Jinping's thought of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era, with the theme of "focus on poverty alleviation and create a better life", which would comprehensively implement the spirit of the 19th Party Congress, thoroughly carry out the central government's decision and deployment on poverty alleviation and philanthropy, focus on the extremely poverty-stricken areas and special poverty groups as well as the needs of extremely poverty-stricken areas, guide and encourage social forces to participate in the poverty alleviation in extremely poverty-stricken areas through exhibitions, seminars, conferences, and resource matching, and effectively fulfill the mission and role of philanthropy in building a well-off society and a better life. Since this year, the CCF would focus on precise poverty alleviation for three consecutive years with the target unchanged.
Through systematic mobilization of various organizers, targeted invitation, international cooperation and ground promotion, a total of 2,147 projects and institutions applied for the exhibition, and 789 institutions, 876 projects and 312 kinds of consumer products were selected to participate in the exhibition, with the focus on the showcase of social poverty alleviation projects.
Centered on the fair theme and positioning, four special exhibition areas are set up, of which the "Special Exhibition Area for Achievements of Brand Projects " showcases the prominent project achievements that have achieved remarkable success and widespread impact; "Special Promotion Area of Project for Areas Stricken by Extreme Poverty" displays the diversified needs of the poverty alleviation project in such areas to promote the effective and precise matching of the diversified needs of poverty-stricken areas with social resources; "Special Area for Consuming Products from Poverty Alleviation Projects" focuses on the products in targeted projects of each field to assist the development with consuming with the purpose of poverty alleviation; and "Creative Products Experience Area" displays the application of scientific and relevant products in the public welfare field so as to promote the cross-border cooperation between science and technology and philanthropy.
Meanwhile, there are also nine thematic exhibition areas covering the fields of education, health, industry, science and technology, ecology, entrepreneurship, emphatically showcasing the new business types and achievements of the targeted poverty alleviation in each field and presenting the typical models, successful cases and prominent achievements in the field of social poverty alleviation.
Focusing on the resources matching of areas stricken by extreme poverty like "Three Regions and Three Prefectures", this session would collect the demands of poverty alleviation projects toward the whole country especially the extremely poverty-stricken areas so as to prepare the 6th China Charity Fair Project Promotion Manual, which would include 372 projects in three categories of project for extremely poverty-stricken area, project for other poverty-stricken area and project of poverty alleviation through consumption and clearly list the basic information, assistance demands, estimated amount, performing organization and contact information of each project so as to mobilize and guide the social forces to lay more emphasis on the extremely poverty-stricken area and mobilize the matching and cooperation between the social funds, professional talents, cut-edging technology and project service and resources with the extremely poverty-stricken area.
On the opening day, a total of 7 matched major poverty alleviation projects are that Evergrande Group donated RMB 11 billion to Bijie City, Guizhou Province for the aid plan for the whole city; Country Garden donated RMB 1.5 billion for the construction of Technology Industry (Poverty Alleviation) Base of Intelligent Building; Vanke donated RMB 200 million to Baise of Guangxi Province and Heyuan and Shanwei of Guangdong Province for the aid plan; Tencent donated RMB 100 million to Guangxi Baise Charity Society for constructing the stage one project of "Shenzhen Town"; China Minsheng Bank donated 13.23 million to China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation for supporting the "Financing Scheme of ME Public Welfare Innovation"; Sichuan Chengdu Languang Student Grants Foundation donated 10 million for Education Bureau of Liangshan Prefecture for the joint edu-aid project of "One Village One Child"; Aliyun established the technology association for the poverty alleviation with China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation and other charity organizations to provide multiple technology supports for the public welfare organizations.
